Factors to Consider When Purchasing a Bunk Bed for Your Children

Bunk beds are wonderful, ingenious inventions that make it possible to meet your children’s furniture needs, even in limited spaces. • Age of Your Children. Older kids may understand the concept of why it’s not a good idea to jump or fall from a top bunk, but toddlers may not. If you are considering bunk beds, but you still have small children who will be sharing, you may want to establish a safety rule about who is allowed to use the top and who is not. If you don’t think your small children can or will follow such a rule, you may want to hold off on your purchase for a year or two.
• Future Needs. If you plan on having more children or have infants that will eventually need to share the room, it’s important to think in terms of the future. Otherwise, you may end up purchasing a bunk bed set that works well now, but will be inadequate for your family’s needs in just a few years.
